Sandisfield Select Board Offers $299,000 for Fire Station Two Property

SANDISFIELD — December 22, 2025 — Sandisfield Select Board makes $299,000 offer on Fire Station Two, with no conditions accepted. The board voted at its December 22 meeting to send the offer to the nonprofit owner of 207 Sandisfield Road, contingent on the nonprofit agreeing to a friendly eminent domain taking and waiving any right to sue — terms the board said are non-negotiable. A second appraisal by a Massachusetts-certified appraiser drove the number, incorporating cost-to-cure adjustments for a failed septic system, a near-failing boiler, and residential zoning that the original appraisal had not considered. The board also reported that a town-owned van intended for resident transportation remains out of service, with no driver hired despite a pay increase and registration complications requiring livery-vehicle designation rather than standard municipal plates.
