Sandisfield Select Board Awards Old Town Hall Furnace Contract, Sets Vocational School Rankings
SANDISFIELD — November 17, 2025 — Sandisfield Select Board approves Old Town Hall furnace replacement and vocational school rankings ahead of Friday special town meeting. The board unanimously awarded a heating system contract to Mirabito, the sole bidder, and a separate oil tank removal contract to John Orton at $4,249, converting the building from oil to 96-percent-efficient propane units. The board also adopted a ranked vocational school preference list — Monument Mountain Regional High School first, Taconic High School second, Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School third — and passed a remote meeting identification policy requiring Zoom participants to display their full names or be removed. Town Manager Janie reported that the police chief position will be posted this week and that two large public records requests, one eight pages long, will require a coordinated, multi-department response billed at up to $25 per hour. Board members disclosed that a final negotiating session with SFDI, the nonprofit holding leases on town fire station buildings, produced no agreement — "we're not even in the same state," one member said — leaving a special town meeting on Friday, November 21, as the next decision point.
