Sandisfield Select Board aligns on DPW road priorities and spring 2026 project list

SANDISFIELD — November 24, 2025 — Sandisfield Select Board works to align on road spending and resolve a conservation dispute. At a November 24 work session, the board and new DPW Superintendent Derrick reviewed a spring 2026 road plan anchored by a $203,000 Silverbrook Road rehabilitation estimate from Northeast Pavement and a $50,000-to-$75,000 Town Hall parking lot project. The town holds roughly $1.6 million in Chapter 90 funds but lacks a firm accounting of how much is reserved for Dodd Road and Town Hill, a multi-million-dollar reconstruction project still awaiting engineering estimates from Tighe and Bond. A separate dispute arose over a Conservation Commission violation order against a resident who built an access road after receiving DPW guidance, with Conservation Commission Chair Mary Turk defending the action as driven by potential wetland disturbance identified with consultant Mark Stinson, while board members argued the resident had followed the bylaws as written and should not bear the cost of a wetland scientist to prove it.
